British Empire Trust announces Calum Thomson to its Board as Non-Executive Director

– UK, Exeter – British Empire Trust plc (LSE:BTEM), is delighted to announce that Calum Thomson has been appointed as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 April 2017.

Andrew Robson, the current chairman of the Audit Committee, will retire from the Board on 31 May 2017, following publication of the Half Yearly Report. He will be replaced as Audit Committee chairman by Mr Thomson with effect from 1 June 2017.

Mr Thomson is a qualified accountant with over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry. For the past 21 years, he has been an audit partner at Deloitte LLP, specialising in the asset management sector, with clients including a wide range of managers, investment trusts, banks, sovereign wealth funds, large charities and private equity funds. During his career, Mr Thomson has led Deloitte LLP’s global and UK asset management groups. He is a non-executive director of The Diverse Income Trust plc, a non-executive director and audit committee chairman of The Bank of London and The Middle East plc and chairman of the board of trustees of La Serenissima.
