AREVA announces Yannick d’Escatha to its Board of Directors as upcoming Non-Executive Chairman

– FRANCE, Courbevoie –  Areva SA, today announced that its General Meeting to be held on November 13, 2019, will decide the change of Chairmanship of its Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors held on October 24th unanimously proposed the appointment of Yannick d’Escatha as a director to replace Philippe Varin, with a view to his appointment as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.

With the completion of the restructuring of the Areva group, and with the Finnish Olkiluoto EPR project nearing its end, Philippe Varin wanted to focus on its other mandates, including Chairman of the Board of Oran and France Industry.

Yannick d’Escatha will bring to Areva, and its Managing Director, Philippe Soulié, 30 years of experience in the French nuclear industry, notably within the Nuclear Regulatory Administration, Technicatome, CEA, CEA-Industries and EDF Group. For 10 years, he was Chairman and CEO of CNES (Center National d’Etudes Spatiales).
