Anglo-Eastern Plantations appoints Lim Tian Huat to the Board as Independent Non-Executive Director

– UK, London – Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc (AEP.L), a major producer of palm oil and rubber with plantations across Indonesia and Malaysia, is pleased to announce the appointment to the Board of Mr. Lim Tian Huat, as an Independent Non-Executive Director, with effect from 8 May 2015. The Company also announces that Mr Nik Din Bin Nik Sulaiman has resigned from the Board with effect from the 8 May 2015.

Mr. Lim, aged 60, a Malaysian citizen, is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). He is also a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is the founding President of Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia (IPAM). He also holds a degree in BA Economics (Honours).

Mr Lim is a practicing Chartered Accountant with his own Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Rodgers Reidy & Co. He is also the Managing Director of Andersen Corporate Restructuring Sdn. Bhd. He was previously a partner in Ernst & Young from 2002 to 2009 and prior to that, partner of Arthur Andersen & Co from 1990 to 2002. He co-authored a book, entitled “The Law and Practice of Corporate Receivership in Malaysia and Singapore”. Mr Lim served as Commissioner to the United Nations Compensations Commission for a period of five years. He was also appointed by the Domestic Trade Minister to be a member of the Corporate Law Reform Committee (CLRC) under the purview of the Companies Commission of Malaysia.

Upon joining the Board of AEP, Mr Lim will be appointed a member of the Audit Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Nominations and Corporate Governance Committee.

In performing his role as a corporate restructuring practitioner Mr Lim has been appointed to the Board of certain companies to assist in the restructuring and liquidation of those companies. In particular he has been a director of the following companies which require to be disclosed in accordance with the Listing Rules set out in the FCA Handbook:

As a Liquidator of the holding company, Mr Lim was also appointed to the Board of MEC Audio Visual Products Sdn. Berhad, MEC Home Appliances Sdn. Berhad and MEC Sales & Services Sdn Berhad on 7 April 1999. These businesses were placed into liquidation in 2000 and the liquidation process is yet to be completed. The creditors are unlikely to recover anything upon liquidation of these companies.

AEP also announces that the Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Mr Nik Din Bin Nik Sulaiman as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 8 May 2015. All positions held by Mr Nik in the Board Committees will also cease accordingly with effect from 8 May 2015. The Board wishes to thank Mr Nik for his contribution to the Company and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

Mr Lim Tian Huat is now the Senior Independent Non- Executive Director.
