Anglo American appoints Tony O’Neill to its Board as Executive Director

– UK, London – Anglo American plc announces the appointment to the Board of Tony O’Neill as an Executive Director, with immediate effect.

Tony O’Neill joined Anglo American as Group Director – Technical in September 2013, with responsibility for mining and technology, business performance, projects and SHE (safety, health and environment).

ony O’Neill, age 58, joined Anglo American in 2013 as Group Director – Technical following five years at AngloGold Ashanti as Executive Vice President – Business and Technical Development and latterly as Joint Acting CEO. He is a mining engineer with an MBA from the University of Melbourne. His 37-year career in the mining industry has spanned iron ore, copper, nickel and gold and includes his roles as Operations Executive at Newcrest Mining and as the head of the gold business at Western Mining Corporation. Tony is a recognised technical and operational expert in the mining industry. He has led the delivery of significant turnarounds in large, complex and geographically diverse mining businesses, capitalising on his deep understanding of the resources sector, its inputs, and conditions for success.
