A-TEK welcomes Jim Ballard to its Board of Directors

– USA, VA –  A-TEK, Inc., an information technology and scientific services and solutions company, announced today that James “Jim” Ballard has been elected to its Board of Directors effective immediately.

About Jim Ballard

Jim Ballard brings more than 45 years of management and leadership experience to A-TEK’s Board from executive positions in the military and in the government services market. Currently serving as the Chairman of Preferred Systems Solutions, Ballard previously served as its CEO and President overseeing and supporting all facets of the PSS organization and set the strategic direction of the company. Prior, Ballard served as President of PSS’ Federal Services Group after the company he founded and led, Global Services & Solutions, Inc. was acquired by PSS. Prior to founding GSS, Ballard served as President of Perot Systems Government Services and was responsible for strategy, management, operations and business development. Under his leadership, PSGS grew from $57M to $650M in annual revenues. Ballard’s management experience spans a broad range of technical disciplines in information technology, engineering and program management to the Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense and Civilian federal agencies.

Mr. Ballard had a successful Naval career as an Engineering Duty Officer, Submarines, managing a diverse workforce of Civilian and Military personnel. He held both leadership and command roles in Naval shipyards, the Naval Sea Systems Command, and the Program Executive Office Submarines. He retired at the rank of Captain, USN.

Mr. Ballard earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He is a graduate of Executive Development Programs at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and at the Harvard Business School.
